Faculty of Health Sciences
Offering programs and conducting research in the health sector
I worked with Simon Fraser University's Faculty of Health Sciences on two separate projects. The first project was redesigning and migrating their website into the university's central content management system in 2013. A year later, I assisted the faculty with converting their site into the new responsive templates.
Prior to the first project, it was difficult for new visitors to find the content they were after. The main reason for this issue was the home page focused on what the faculty is. Instead, the home page should concentrate on guiding the different audience groups to the information they need.
My tasks included planning the migration, restructuring the site to focus on the different audience groups, designing main pages, and documenting the content update process. Part of this project involved building a custom feature that I designed with a developer.
The Outcome
In March 2013, we successfully launched the faculty site. This involved migrating over 200 pages and redesigning the home page to focus on prospective students. Soon after we converted the site to the responsive templates, making it accessible on mobile and tablet devices.
